An Interactive Seminar on ‘Multiculturalism, Ethnic-Federalism & Swiss Experience’ was organised

An Interactive Seminar on ‘Multiculturalism, Ethnic-Federalism & Swiss Experience’ was organised at Hotel Orchid of Kathmandu on Friday by Sahayatra Nepal. Program was supported by SDC., Seminar was organised to be clear on Ethnic Federalism with the experience of Swiss federalism. Chief guest of the seminar was Dr. Nicole Topperwien from Switzerland. Main aim of the program was to support the movement of Indigenous peoples of Nepal who are engaging on socio-political movement practically., On the program, Federal Democratic National Forum[FDNF] and its related organ organizations Limbuwan, Tamangsaling, Khambuwan and Tharuhat etc. were participated. Budhha Tseting Moktan from FDNF hand presented a slide paper on ‘Why Does Ethnic Federalism Matter?’, (A historical overview of Nepal’s “ethno-class” struggle), Then after, chief guest Dr. Nicole Topperwien, from SDC, presented her slide paper on ‘Ethnic or multiethnic federalism in Switzerland? (Sharing Swiss Experiences with Federalism). Indigenous Scholar Mr Dambar Chemjong, Politician Bijaya Sainju(From Nepal National Party), Tanka Phombo from Limbu Students’ Forum, Gopal Dahita etc. were participated on the interaction program with their views, questions and suggestions on the program., D.B Angbung Limbu from Sahayatra Nepal had expressed his opening remarks on the program. Similarly to, Kumar Lingden ‘Mirak’ From Limbuwan expressed his key notes by conluding the seminar. DK Budhhist from Tamangsaling expressed his closing remarks from the chair of the chairperson of program by thanking and requesting Dr Nicole to visit Nepal with such academic ideas more again.
